The Florida Gator football team beat the Cincinnati Bearcats 51-24 in the Sugar Bowl. Way to go Gators! Gators quarterback Tim Tebow racked up 482 yards passing and three touchdowns plus 51 yards and another touchdown on the ground. The 482 yards passing set Sugar Bowl and BCS bowl game records.

The Gator defense did its part too with four sacks on the night and holding the Cincinnati Bearcats to 24 points, their lowest output this year. Way to go Gators and Congratulations on a Sugar Bowl victory and setting records in college football!

Tim Tebow on graduating University of Florida: "And that just because I'm graduating the University of Florida doesn't mean I'm still not a Gator. I've been a Gator my whole life and always will be a Gator. So it's not really saying good-bye, it's just moving on to a new chapter, but I'll still always be a Gator."

Florida Gators head football coach Urban Meyer will officially take a leave of absence rather than step down from his coaching job.

"During the past couple of days I was offered and encouraged to take a leave of absence," said Urban Meyer. "I've accepted this offer to improve on my health."

Coach Urban Meyer will still coach the Florida Gators in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on January 1st before beginning his leave of absence. Be at the Sugar Bowl to cheer on Urban Meyer and all of the Florida Gators players!

Offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will take over as interim head coach during Meyer's time away from the Florida Gators program.

The University of Florida Gators football team has accepted an invitation to play undefeated Big East Champion Cincinnati Bearcats in the 2010 Allstate Sugar Bowl Classic on January 1, 2010, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.

It will be the eighth time the Florida Gators football team has played in the Sugar Bowl and it 19th straight bowl appearance, which ranks first in the SEC and second nationally.

"Our team is looking forward to playing in the Sugar Bowl and knows that The Gator Nation will be there in force to support the winningest senior class in SEC history," head coach Urban Meyer said.

In the early 1990s, a legendary Florida Gators coach named Steve Spurrier started "The Swamp" nickname as an intimidation technique for opposing teams.
